A Falls Prevention Camp for the Elderly was held on Saturday, 11thOctober 2025, at Amar Ashram Mandir, Jwala Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi-110032; organized by Dr. Manjusha Dobhal (PT, Neurological) and Dr. Sakshi Vats (PT, Musculoskeletal) — Assistant Professors at Amar Jyoti Institute of Physiotherapy, University of Delhi.
The camp was organized to assess and promote awareness about fall risk among individuals aged 50 years and above. Participants completed the Falls Efficacy Scale–International (FES-I), which measures an individual’s confidence in performing daily activities without falling—thereby assessing their fear of falls. Following this, balance testing was conducted using two standardized assessments: the Timed Up and Go Test (TUG test) and the One Leg Stance Test (OLST) to evaluate each participant’s risk of falls.
The camp received active participation from the local community, with elderly participants expressing appreciation for the comprehensive balance evaluations, personalized guidance, and recommendations provided. The initiative also served to reinforce the significance of regular physical activity and balance training as essential measures in the prevention of falls among older adults.
Conclusion:
The Falls Prevention Camp was a successful initiative that effectively emphasized the importance of maintaining regular exercise and balance training to minimize fall risk in the elderly population. The organizing team remains committed to sustaining and expanding such initiatives aimed at enhancing the health, safety, and overall well-being of older adults.
