In its overall mission to serve the health-care needs of the society the Amar Jyoti Institute of Physiotherapy has undertaken, as a first step, the education and training of Physiotherapy practitioners. The management and faculty of the Institute view physiotherapy as a profession, whose primary purpose is the promotion of human health and function through the application of scientific principles to prevent, identify, assess, correct or alleviate conditions that arise as a result of various pathologies and/or movement dysfunction.

The mission of the Amar Jyoti Institute of Physiotherapy is to:

“Provide leadership, management skills and resources for the advancement of education, scholarship, public service, and the practice of Physiotherapy”.

In an attempt to fulfill this mission the Institute has defined
the following goals:

  1. Structure an intellectual environment in which both students and faculty can learn, integrate and transmit knowledge.
  2. Build an environment that invites exploration of the teaching and learning process.
  3. Serve the educational and the service needs of the organization and the professional community at large.
  4. Enter the future with educational leadership that provides models of education that meet current and anticipated practice expectations

To achieve the above goals, the Bachelor of Physiotherapy curriculum has been designed to produce graduates who will:

Manifest competence as a clinical practitioner: The graduate will be comfortable interpreting and implementing the elements of patient management.

Demonstrate evidence-based practice: The graduate will be able to identify, select and apply appropriate research and pertinent information in the creation and implementation of physiotherapy interventions.

Communicate effectively: The graduate will share information with other health-care providers and clients/patients.

Develop a professional self-identity: The graduate will identify with and ascribe to the physiotherapy ethos and professional standards of the conduct of physiotherapists.

The Institute views education as a preparation for a lifelong commitment to professional service. This professional preparation is based on a broad foundation of bio-behavioral sciences from which students develop the values and tools necessary to function in a complex and changing health care environment. The curriculum is designed to reflect both current trends and future needs. It prepares students to accept their multifaceted role as clinical practitioners, teachers, researchers, consultants and administrators. In addition, it prepares students not only for the current levels of practice but also enables them to adapt to future change.
